SEPTEMBER 18 & 25: YUPO ART DECO LANTERN
During the Roaring 20’s, Art Deco style of bright colors, precious metals, and repeating patterns were applied everywhere, from clothing, to architecture, to vacuums, lamps and more! In this two session workshop, create a lantern using translucent Yupo Paper and “metal” acrylics in the style of 1920’s Art Deco. The lantern can be used as a hanging lamp and participants will even receive a light to make it shine!
OCTOBER 2 & 9: CLAY SCULPTURAL WEAVING
In this two session course participants will design an abstract sculpture out of clay that will also be their loom for weaving. On day two of the course students will add to the clay sculpture with yarns for an unconventional loom sculpture!
OCTOBER 16 & 23: DYNAMIC ZOMBIE PORTRAITS using Colored Pencil on Dark Paper
Learn to “build up” a drawing with colored pencils to create a dynamic zombie portrait just in time for Halloween! In this two session course students will work in reverse from dark to light with dark drawing paper and bright colored pencils.
OCTOBER 30 & NOVEMBER 6: CREATE YOUR OWN WRAPPED CANVAS!
In this two session course, students will learn how to use stretcher bars and rolled canvas to make their own wrapped canvas. Each student will make their own 9×12 canvas and learn what it takes to make them sturdy, strong, and how to prime them and why! Canvas’ will be ready to take home at the end of the second session as a new fresh wrapped canvas ready to become a masterpiece!
NOVEMBER 13 & 20: FRESCO PAINTING
Painting on or with plaster is the oldest known form of painting- in this two-day course students will experience why Renaissance artists considered it “Mother of all Arts” by learning to paint with fresh, wet plaster, adding colors and texture to a hard board surface.
NOVEMBER 27: NO CLASS, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
DECEMBER 4 & 11: VASES CRAFTED FROM PAPER MACHE
Create a tall, eye catching vase out of recycled materials and high quality decorative papers in this two-day workshop. Students will learn art of Paper Mache, building their sculptural vase, adhering paper strips, mixing their own Mache paste, and on the second day adorning with design!
