Thursday, Jan. 8, 15, & 22
Paper Mache Cottages

In this imaginative workshop, young artists will design and build their very own paper mache house. Starting with a simple structure, children will shape and layer paper mache to create cozy cottages. Once dry, each house will be brought to life with paint and patterns—chimneys, doors, windows, gardens, and more! This hands-on project encourages creativity, problem-solving, and 3D design while introducing kids to the fun of building with mixed media. Register by 1/5.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 12, & 19
A Grandma Moses Winter

Students will be inspired to create a nostalgic winter scene after viewing a real painting by artist, Grandma Moses straight from the PLAC Collections. On heavy weight paper they will layer watercolors, gouache, and a mix of printmaking to create these picturesque winter scenes.  Register by 1/28.

Thursday, Mar. 5, 12, & 19
Wiggle Glaze! Bowl, Plate, & Cup Set

Students will learn to use the slab roller to create their very own plate, bowl, and cup set! Each piece will be slab rolled, abstractly designed with a “wiggly” line glaze technique and formed to create the cutest usable or decorative place setting. Pieces will be left to dry, bisque fired, and finished with a clear glaze firing. Pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 2.5 weeks after the class.  Register by 2/25.

Thursday, Apr. 2, 9, & 16
Printmaking Quilt

In this fun and colorful workshop, young artists will explore the magic of block printmaking! Using simple foam shapes and blocks, children will design and stamp repeating patterns side by side to create a “quilt-like” artwork. As they experiment with layering shapes students will discover how patterns can tell stories, create movement, and come together—just like pieces in a patchwork quilt.  Register by 3/25.
