The Lakes Area Dog Park in a partnership with Lake Okoboji United Methodist Camp is building this dog park on the south campus of the Methodist Camp property. The design of the six-acre dog park allows two dog areas. One for large dogs and one for small / timid dogs.
The dog park has been designated as a community need for some time. Benefits are great for a safe place to exercise dogs. The year round residents, summer residents, tourists and summer guests will all benefit from the park.
This is not a city park . Everything we completed in the first phase is here because of donations given and countless volunteer hours. We still need to raise money for the second phase. The second phase will enhance the park. Additions will include watering stations with cement pads for canines and humans alike. We will also cover the entrance, add shade trees, a message board and smooth out rough patches of ground. Only your donations will make this happen. We intend to make this park worthy of the citizens and guests of the Iowa Great Lakes Area.
