Arnolds Park Golf Cart Ordinance
The City of Arnolds Park has recently updated their Golf Cart Ordinance. Effective January 1, 2023 all golf carts operated on the City streets must registered with the City. Permits will be issued through the Arnolds Park City Hall.
Applicationsopens PDF file are now available at the Arnolds Park City Hall for permits valid for the calendar years of 2023 and 2024. Owners information, address, and proof of insurance will be required on each application. Permits are $50 per golf cart and are good for up to two years, with the expiration date of December 31 of evenly numbered calendar years. There will be no proration or refund of the registration fee.
A Registration sticker will be issued for each applicationopens PDF file /permit. The sticker shall be placed on the front of the golf cart near the driver’s side and visible to oncoming traffic. Each sticker is specific to the golf cart registered and is non-transferable. If a new golf cart is purchased after the permit is issued, a new application must be completed, the $50 fee paid for the new cart, and a new sticker will be issued.
All golf carts that operate within the City limits of Arnolds Park must have a valid City of Arnolds Park issued golf cart permit. This applies to all residents and visitors alike whether you are here for a day, a weekend, a month, the summer, or year-round. Permits issued by other cities are not recognized by the City of Arnolds Park.
The Arnolds Park Police Department will be strictly enforcing the new Ordinance. Failure to follow the rules as outlined by the new ordinance will result in the issuance of a municipal infraction of not less than $100 per violation.
The operation of a golf cart within the City of Arnolds Park requires the driver to possess a valid driver’s license and to be at least 16 years of age. Operation of golf carts by an underage person within the City of Arnolds Park may result in the issuance of a Uniform Citation under Iowa Code 321.219 issued to the parent/guardian for allowing an unauthorized minor to drive.
Please also be aware you must follow all State Laws and City Ordinances when operating a golf cart and park within the designated parking locations in the City of Arnolds Park. Golf carts cannot be operated on US HWY 71, bike trails, or sidewalks. You may cross the HWY at a 90-degree angle, preferably at a location where there is a stoplight.
