Little Shop of Horrors is one of Off-Broadway’s longest-running hits and has grown into one of the most beloved and frequently produced musicals around the globe. This deviously delicious show is a sci-fi, horror-comedy smash that conquered both Broadway and Hollywood, and has been capturing the hearts of audiences for over 30 years.
At the center of the story is Seymour Krelborn, a meek and unlucky floral assistant who discovers a strange and exotic plant unlike anything he’s ever seen. Naming it “ Audrey II” after his coworker crush, Seymour quickly learns that the plant has a mind—and a voice—of its own. With a taste for fame, fortune, and human blood, Audrey II seduces Seymour with promises of success… at a gruesome cost. Packed with catchy R&B tunes, outrageous comedy, and a heart as big as its appetite, Little Shop of Horrors is a cult classic that continues to grow on audiences of all ages.
OST welcomes back Artistic Director/Director Bernard Monroe as he joins Okoboji Summer Theatre’s Residential Actor, Rob Doyen, who is a long-time Okoboji favorite! He’ll be joined by Guest Artist, Matthew Carter, who will be featured as the voice of “ Audrey II”, along with several professional guest artists and the students from The Conservatory at Stephens College. Little Shop of Horrors runs Tuesday, July 8 through Sunday, July 13. Little Shop of Horrors is sponsored by Lostsaltshaker In memory of Dave and Muriel Nelson, Anna and Josh Harris and Family and Kemna Okoboji/Ev Smart of Okoboji.
