A Love Rooted in Okoboji
Brooke and Alex both grew up spending their summers on the shores of Okoboji, where their families—friends for generations—shared countless memories. Their own love story began during the summer of 2020, sparked by wake surfing nights and barefoot skiing mornings. From childhood friends to soulmates, their journey came full circle in 2022 when Alex proposed under the twinkling lights of Arnolds Park after sharing a classic Nutty Bar.
The Wedding Weekend
Naturally, an Okoboji wedding was the only choice for this couple whose story is deeply tied to the lake. On August 26, 2023, Brooke and Alex exchanged vows with their toes in the sand at Arnolds Park Beach, followed by a joyful reception in the historic Arnolds Park Pavilion.
The weekend’s celebrations began with an intimate family ceremony at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Zach Jones, and a rehearsal dinner at The Inn Hotel. On their wedding day, the lake breeze, golden sunlight, and love from friends and family made the atmosphere magical.
From the floral arrangements by Indigo Row Floral Design to the beats spun by DJ Joe Tafta, “The Sound Doctor”, every detail of their Okoboji wedding highlighted local talent and the area’s signature charm.
