Special events play an important role in attracting visitors to the Iowa Great Lakes Area each year. The Okoboji Tourism Committee has set aside $5,000 to assist events put on by organizations or individuals that will help attract more visitors to our community.
The Okoboji Tourism Committee Special Event Grant Application will be available at VacationOkoboji.com beginning January 2, 2018. Completed grant applications will be due back to the Okoboji Tourism Committee Office (243 W Broadway, Arnolds Park) by 4 PM Friday, February 9, 2018. Following a committee review, applicants will be notified of grant results by March 1, 2018.
Extra consideration will be given to the following events:
- Multi-Day Events
- Events taking place during the “off-season” (after Labor Day – before Memorial Day)
- Events taking place Sunday – Thursday between Memorial Day – Labor Day
- Events that will attract visitors beyond a 75-mile radius of the Iowa Great Lakes Area
All events submitted will be added to the Okoboji Tourism Committee event calendar and promoted through multiple marketing channels.
