  • Profile

The Higgins Museum, one of Okoboji’s more unusual attractions, is devoted entirely to the history of national banking in the United States from 1863 to 1935. Exhibits of national bank notes from Iowa and adjoining states illustrate the heyday of America’s use of hometown paper money, along with an extensive collection of turn-of-the century Iowa postcards, and a numismatic research library. Open daily, except Mondays, from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend, 11am to 5:30 pm. Group tours are also available by appointment.
